Sunny California

I’m back with the first of our pictures from our grand California adventure (we’ll call it that because it was not restful enough to be called a vacation and it seems a much bigger deal than “trip” would imply) and I’m already trying to figure out the best way to print and frame all of these for our home (okay, maybe not all of them). 

We spent our first full day in San Diego, at a beach that promised beautiful sand + sand dollars + a fun amusement park nearby. It was a beautiful way to spend our first day in sunny California and we were in our own slice of paradise.

Here are a few pictures from our first beach day. 

This was Madison's first time getting to experience the beach, and she was so wary of the texture of the sand and timid of the waves, but after a ten minutes or so she was loving both.

It was a little windy for the first hour, so my mom bundled up Madison (doesn't she look like the cutest little sumo wrestler?), thankfully the chilly temps didn't last long and the sun came out and gave us a proper welcome.

The girls loved running up and down the beach for most of the time, just playing in the water, running away from the waves.

Towards the end of the day they started looking for seashells, and I decided to show them my secret spot where I find sand-dollars. 

Since my sweet mom came with us, she was nice enough to watch Madison while I helped the girls find their first sand dollars. They were so thrilled when we found a handful of them (their little faces would light up each time we'd find one, it was the cutest thing)! 

We had pretty good luck finding sand dollars each time we went to the beach, I was a little worried about bringing them home, but luckily they all made it back in one piece.
